Results are in, and the Vogue Nationale Apprentice team have taken two finalist placings out of six on offer for the nation, in the 2011 Australian Hair Fashion Awards. Ruth Read and Chantelle Ivanovski are both the proud recipients of the Finalist title, with results for the 2011 Australian Apprentice of the Year being announced at the AHJ Gala on the evening of March 28th 2011. Winning results will be posted on our blog as soon as they come to light, for now, enjoy the stunning work!
Vogue Nationale was extremely honoured to be asked to style the hair for The Leona Edmiston Melbourne Cup Fashion Parade held at The Brisbane Marriott Hotel. Our Stylists were so excited to be involved in such an amazing event in which over 300 guests attended. We have worked with the lovely Leona Edmiston before and it was again a wonderful experience. On the back of the CityCycle program launch in Brisbane last Friday, Vogue Nationale’s Todd Arndt creates “helmet-friendly” hair-styles designed to flatter, not flatten.
Beautiful, bountiful, cascading curls never go out of fashion and are always a great way to embrace the freshness and lightness of spring, as seen at the Ella Baché Splash Swim and Resort wear show. “The hair has a fun, flirty, Barbie-esque softness with bounce and plenty of movement, seen as the girls strode down the runway. It really encapsulates that resort style, voluminous, glamorous hair,” said Todd Arndt, Redken Hair Director backstage at the show. The voluminous curls had a dry, airy texture and accessorized with cute ‘hello sailor’ hats, bows and braided headbands.
HOW TO:
1. Apply Redken Rootful 06 to the roots, lengths and ends of towel dried hair. Blow dry in and
create a centre part. This will help achieve a beautiful light, dry texture in the hair.
2. Beginning at the back, take one inch sections of hair and while holding the curling tong
vertically, wrap the hair around the wand. Curl the entire head of hair.
3. Set the curls as you go, by pinning them to the scalp and allowing them to cool. Once cool,
remove all pins. Using a soft boar bristle brush, gently relax the curls by brushing out the
lengths. Use your fingers to help align and shape the curls.
4. Expert Tip: For extra volume in the back lengths, crimp hair at the roots for an
added lift and a fuller look.
5. Finish with a healthy dose of Redken Workforce 09 for volume and flexible hold.

The Vogue Nationale Team helped style hair at the Launch party which was one of the most beautiful events at this years Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The models wore garments made completely of paper by Artist Benja Harney.

Its celebrations all round for the Apprentice team @ Vogue Nationale Hair Design. Sunday 1st August was the annual “J the Colour” hair competition, an opportunity for some friendly rivalry between Apprentices from many of Brisbane’s finest salons.

Braiding is set to be another hair trend seen on the runway at RAFW with Todd Arndt, Redken Hair
Director creating a stunning braided up style for the Magdalena Velevska show. “This look has a very
understated 50’s inspired sexiness to it. Even though it’s an up style, the look is still quite relaxed
because the plait isn’t secured too tightly and the soft quiff gently falls over the forehead. This gives it a
beautiful graceful and modern feel without looking too overdone,” says Todd.
HOW TO:
1. Coat dry hair with Redken Touch Control 05 for texture, grip and flexible hold.
2. Make a U-section with the top front section of hair. Create a pony tail at the top
centre of the head and secure with a hair tie.
3. Plait the pony tail straight and secure at the end with a hair tie. Then tease the plait
with fingers to create a ruffled texture and to slightly loosen -making it appear
less like a regular plait.
4. Fold and twist the plait back and secure into a quiff shape with bobby pins.
5. Finish with Redken Workforce 09 to hold the up style in place and to smooth
fly aways at the back.

Vogue Nationale Hair Design are very pleased to announce we have come on board with an amazing charity - Matter of Trust. Matter of Trust is a US charity organisation which collects hair-clippings from all over the world to create hair booms to clean up oil from spill disasters such as the most recent Gulf of Mexico tragedy. Apart from the amazing work they do for the environment, Matter of Trust also creates “green-jobs” for at risk youth who carry-out tasks of fibre collection and boom-making.

Todd will heading down on Saturday to prepare for the launch of RAFW 2010 - with the un-official party being hosted by MAC - it is set to be a visual spectular - a feast for the eyes with incredible hair direction to boot!

The Spirit of the Black Dress is an annual Photographic Exhibition that showcases ten of Australia’s most innovative emerging Fashion designers. Ten designers for 2010 were chosen by a panel of industry judges including Janice Breen Burns, Karen Webster, Joe Saba, Roger Leong and Emer Diviney.
